Fellowship
A fellowship of men and women seeking freedom from sin, addiction, and despair — rooted in the Sacraments of the Roman Catholic Church.
Our Mission
The Catholic Steps is a fellowship of men and women seeking freedom from sin, addiction, and despair. We gather in small groups — in parishes, homes, and online — to walk the 12 Steps together, rooted in the Sacraments of the Roman Catholic Church.
Our meetings are open to Catholics struggling with any attachment: alcohol, drugs, pornography, anger, anxiety, or any pattern of sin that has become unmanageable. Each meeting follows a simple liturgy — the Hail Mary, the Preamble, the Steps, the Ten Commandments, open sharing, and the Lord's Prayer.
Step XII calls us outward: "Go, therefore, and make Catholics of all nations." That is the heartbeat of this fellowship.
"For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them."
Matthew 18:20
The Program
The Catholic Steps are not generic spirituality. They are anchored in the specific Sacraments and teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
Step I
Acknowledge that we are powerless over our attachment.
Step II
Come to believe in the Real Presence of Christ.
Step III
Surrender our will and our life to God's care.
Step IV
Make a searching and fearless moral inventory.
Step V
Admit our wrongs to God, ourselves, and another person.
Step VI
Become willing to make amends to all persons harmed.
The Foundation
Step II of the program asks each member to come to believe in the Real Presence — not as a theological abstraction, but as the living center of a daily practice of death and rebirth.
The Eucharist is not a symbol. It is the flesh of Christ — as the earliest Christians believed, as Ignatius of Antioch wrote in A.D. 107, as the Church has taught for two thousand years.
"Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day."
— John 6:54
